Food Science and Technology: Description of Major

Food science and technology is the key to the conversion of raw agricultural materials into safe, nutritious, and appealing processed foods. Thus, food science and technology majors can make an important contribution to the well-being and progress of society. Principles of biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, physics, and other sciences are applied to the processing, preservation, packaging, distribution, and use of food and food products. Options include science, technology, and pre-veterinary medicine. Minors can be obtained in chemistry or business management.
