Career Fair Preparation
Why attend a Career Fair? The answers are simple:
To learn about specific employers
To explore your career options
To research areas of interest
To establish personal contact with employers
To practice your interviewing skills informally
To apply for jobs and internships
Why do employers attend Career Fairs?
Provide job openings and company information to solicit applicants and maintain visibility on campus
Discuss company benefits
Invite students to on-campus and/or on-site interviews
Make connections and extend job offers
To get the most out of a Career Fair it is helpful to:
Research employers and positions in advance
Identify how your background connects to employers' needs
Write a 30 second introduction: starting with your name, major, interest in company, and your intentions
Have a plan for navigating the fair to ensure you meet with the employers you targeted
