Award for Excellence in Career Advising
In 1989, the Award for Excellence in Career Advising was established to recognize the value of career advising at Virginia Tech.
The award is given annually to a Departmental Career Advisor (DCAs) or Pre-Professional School Advisor at Virginia Tech.
Nominations for the 2007-2008 award were invited in spring 2008; the deadline was Friday, April 4, 2008. Nomination deadline for the 2008-2009 award is tba. Nominations are welcome from students, faculty and staff.

Nomination dossiers are kept on file for one year.
You may re-submit a nomination from the previous year by making a written request to Mr. Rafael Rodriguez-Santos, rodrigr@vt.edu.

You do not need to re-submit the nomination materials.
The selection committee is comprised of faculty, Career Services staff, and students.
The award is presented in fall semester during the annual Departmental Career Advisors Luncheon sponsored by Career Services.
Beginning with 2002-2003, a monetary award of $500 is given to the award recipient.

Nomination criteria:
Nominees must be Departmental Career Advisors (DCAs) or
Pre-Professional School Advisors for the current academic year.
Personal characteristics such as creativity, communication skills, concern for students, and enthusiasm as they pertain to the role of career advisor.
The development of innovative career advising resources and outreach programs for the department.
While many of these individuals also serve as academic advisors, it is important to distinguish their career advising accomplishments.
