What are they?

Some employers choose to schedule information sessions, typically the evening prior to an interview day, in order to meet less formally with students and share general information about your organization so that interview time can be spent more effectively.

  • While Career Services strongly encourages students to attend info sessions, not all students choose or are able to attend. We do strongly advise students to RSVP when asked and expect them to exercise the highest level of courtesy regarding RSVPs and attendance.
  • As host, you may offer food and beverages if you wish. Please note in accordance with professional standards, alcohol should not be served in connection with recruiting.
  • If you would like advice about whether, when, and where to hold an information session, please contact our Employer Relations staff.

To arrange an information session:

To verify facts about your information session

  • If you scheduled an information session in connection with On-Campus Interviewing, you may verify your information as follows:
    - Hokies4Hire Employer login
    - Select "Career Events" from the main menu
    - Select "Career Events List"

Publicity to students

  • Employer information sessions are publicized to students on-line through Hokies4Hire
  • You may invite students through direct contact.
  • Career Services strongly encourages students to attend employer information sessions. We are unable to compel students to attend. We ask employers to be aware that students sometimes have schedule conflicts that prevent them from attending all sessions in which they have an interest.
