“Applicants” are students who have been preparing themselves to apply to their chosen health professions by performing well in their coursework, have clinical, service and community experiences and thus have competitive credentials for the application process. Applicants may be juniors, seniors or alumni/ae.

Matriculants are those who were offered and accepted admission to a professional or graduate program.

Quick Steps of the Application Process
Be familiar with the four-year undergraduate timeline.
1 You are responsible to know the more detailed information in pathway to successful application.
This is the process for the two years before you hope to enter Health Professional School.

2 Attend a group information session in the fall semester and open or update your ePortfolio.
3 Create an Excel spreadsheet for the schools to which you will be applying; know their admission requirements and deadlines.
4 Meet regularly with Dr. J. Wubah (at least once in the fall before submission of your application) and ensure that your ePortfolio is updated before each meeting.
5 Know all OHPA DEADLINES and what is required of you for each date.
6 Start preparing for the admission exam in the fall (at least an hour a day). You need 3 – 6 months to be sufficiently ready.
7 Complete and submit the self-evaluation form to the Resume cell of your ePortfolio before the deadline.
8 Create a veCollect account in fall semester and start obtaining letters of recommendation from your mentors.
9 Schedule and participate in Health Professions Evaluation Committee (HPEC) interview according to deadlines. [Instructions are e-mailed to applicants who have completed necessary steps prior.]
10 Complete and submit an error-free application when your specific centralized application service opens.
11 Request in writing (e-mail is sufficient) to Dr. J. Wubah, a committee letter of evaluation if required or accepted by your schools.
12 Accept and attend invitation for interviews at your health professional schools.
13 Send thank-you notes to referees and admission staff (those individuals who interviewed you) at professional schools. Inform OHPA of your application status by completing the Program Data Sheet cell of your ePortfolio.
