Theatre Arts: Description of Major

The theatre arts program provides a comprehensive education in theatre within the context of a broad liberal arts course of study. It is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The curriculum emphasizes three areas—the theoretical, the historical, and the practical.

The program provides a foundation in dramatic literature, theatre history, play-writing, and production. Advanced courses are available in acting, scene and costume design, lighting, arts management, stage makeup, and Japanese theatre.

Theatre arts students are encouraged to become involved in all aspects of production activities. Auditions and crew assignments are open to all students, not just theatre arts majors.
