Agricultural and Applied Economics: Description of Major

Agricultural and Applied Economics: Description of Major

Agricultural and Applied Economics applies economic concepts, including business and finance, to career interests in agribusiness, financial planning, community and international development, or environmental policy. Courses prepare students to make financial, marketing, management, or public policy decisions that affect households, agribusinesses, communities and the environment.

Six targeted options of study include agribusiness management; community economic development; environmental economics and management; financial planning; international trade and development; and veterinary business management. Course flexibility allows students to tailor their option to individual career or graduate education interests, including pre-law or pre-veterinary medicine preparation for continued professional study. Specialty areas within the agribusiness management option include agricultural finance, marketing, futures and prices, farm business management, or small business management.
