Co-op / Internship Program
C.T. Tate Distinguished Senior Co-op Award
Employers are encouraged to consider recognizing an excellent co-op student in your employ by nominating a senior co-op student for the C.T. Tate Distinguished Senior Co-op Award.
 
Nomination procedure
Nominations are invited annually from academic department heads, course advisors, employers who supervise and work with co-op students, and senior-academic-level co-op students. Self-nominations are also accepted.
2008 deadline is 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2008.
To nominate a student, submit a completed C.T. Tate Distinguished Senior Co-op Award Nomination Form to Career Services as specified on the form:

Eligibility of those nominated is determined by the co-op staff in accordance with the nomination criteria outlined below. All eligible nominees are then notified and forwarded a Nominee Application Form.
 
Nomination criteria
Candidate eligibility for the C.T. Tate Distinguished Senior Co-op Award is determined using the following minimum qualifications. The student must:
be a senior academic level co-op student in good standing;
have worked a minimum of three semesters, and completed all assignments as scheduled;
have an overall grade point average of at least 2.5 in all academic work at Virginia Tech;
graduate in the academic year of the award;
have all co-op records and reports up-to-date at time of nomination; and
have on file a letter of recommendation or final work evaluation from her/his co-op employer.
 
Selection of Recipient
After the application deadline, a committee reviews the nominations and selects the award recipient during the spring semester. The committee is comprised of the following:
A representative from each of the seven colleges in the university that participate in the Co-op / Internship Program. Committee membership is rotated annually among the academic departments within each of the seven colleges.
The Career Services Assistant Director with responsibility to oversee the Co-op / Internship Program (ex officio).
 
Presentation of award
The award is presented annually during the spring semester.
The recipient of the C.T. Tate Award receives an attractive certificate and a check in the amount of $400.
